After 2011, Derek took a few years off as he and his family transitioned their lives to Boise, Idaho.
After settling into their new town, Derek returned to coaching. Over the last 7 years, he has expanded his career and knowledge of the game coaching competitively within the Treasure Valley. Derek has traveled to Verona, Italy to live and breathe soccer culture while working with their Serie B Club, Chievo Verona. He completed their coaching diploma course and brought this experience of the game to share with athletes in the states. In addition, he spent a season as the Women’s Assistant Coach for Treasure Valley Community College in Ontario, Oregon.
Coach Derek is married to Amanda Wimpeé and they have two beautiful daughters, Taylor (15yrs) and Riley (9yrs). They are his biggest fans and support system.
